Routing And Scaling

Matrix

Translate modulation sources into controlled destination movement with amount, polarity, curves, range clamps, via scaling, slew, and route order.

How This Page Works

The Matrix is the translation layer between movement and sound. Each of its 24 rows is a complete route: a source is optionally scaled by a via source, sent to a destination, shaped by mode and curve, constrained by range, smoothed by slew, and ordered relative to other routes.

Quick Understanding

The Matrix connects movement sources to plugin controls. Each row reads like a sentence: this source moves this destination by this amount, with this shape and range.

Start here

Turn on one row, choose one source, choose one destination, then set a small amount. Confirm the sound improves before adding a second route.

Listen for

Musical range. The best route usually moves enough to be heard but not so far that the patch loses its center or jumps unpredictably.

Avoid this

Do not leave wide min/max ranges on aggressive destinations by accident. Clamp the route when cutoff, resonance, drive, or output-related controls overreach.

Simple rule: Matrix rows are not just routing. They also scale, shape, limit, smooth, and order the movement.

Every Row Field

OnEnables or bypasses the row.Turn rows off when diagnosing a patch.
SourceThe modulation signal that drives the row.Choose one clear source first.
ViaOptional second source that scales or gates the first source.Use for conditional modulation.
DestinationThe parameter the row moves.Use specific destinations when possible.
Amount (Abs)Absolute route amount for direct movement.Use for predictable moves.
Depth (Norm)Normalized depth that behaves consistently across destinations.Use when reusing route behavior.
Mode+, -, or +/- polarity behavior.Use + upward, - downward, +/- bipolar.
SlewSmoothing time for the route.Use to remove zippering or make stepped sources glide.
CurveLinear, Exp, Log, S-Curve, Rectify, Quantize, Clamp, or Invert.Shape one route before adding more routes.
Curve ParamSecondary curve amount.Tune quantize, clamp, curvature, or related shaping.
Min / MaxRange clamps for the result.Prevent a route from overreaching.
OrderExecution order from 1-24.Important for meta-modulation and route-depth destinations.
Route context menuRoute actions such as delete/clear.Use for cleanup.
Route badgeVisual indication that a control has assigned modulation.Use badges to discover why a knob is moving.
